Recently, our Petanque Club had a chance to shine in front of the camera during a fun-filled video shoot. As the boules flew through the air, so did the laughter, joy, and sense of togetherness that makes this club so special. And if you listen closely, you might even hear a plane landing overhead from nearby East Midlands Airport, adding a little extra excitement to the day! – We’re that close!
The Red Lion Petanque Club is a vibrant and inclusive community. With 20 passionate members, the club includes individuals with a variety of abilities, such as hearing impairments, visual impairments, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and physical impairments. This diversity makes every session a unique and enriching experience, both for the players and for anyone who comes to watch.
Our club plays on our very own piste, which is located in our garden (also offering FREE parking). Surrounded by decking and private to the club pub tables, it’s the perfect spot for players to enjoy a game of Pétanque while spectators (& players!) relax with a drink. We provide all the supplies needed for the club, ensuring that everyone has what they need to enjoy the game. Whether you’re seated with a refreshing ale or cheering on the players, the setting offers a wonderful blend of sport and socialising.
Our club is active in local competitions, proudly fielding two teams in the Leicestershire Summer League Club and two in the Thursday League. But it’s not just about competition; it’s about the joy of the game, the thrill of the throw, and the bond formed with teammates and opponents alike.
We meet for weekly Sunday sessions and host occasional events, inviting everyone to join in the fun — whether you’re a seasoned player or just curious to learn more about the game. The Red Lion is a place where everyone can feel at home, and our Pétanque Club is no different.
